Hannah Hughes, Beards jewellery designer and head goldsmith has been the second member of the Beards team to complete the GIA's diamond grading course.

Not only completing the course she attained a massive score of 95%.

The Gemological Institute of America or GIA to those in the industry is the world’s leader in laboratory grading and testing of gemstones.

With some of the most stringent criteria for grading and developer of the cut grade for round brilliant cut diamonds, they are ideally placed to train those in the industry the correct way to assess diamonds.

Beards continue to certificate 95% of its diamond stock over 30pts of a carat with independent lab reports, of which 75% are GIA reports, the remainder are IGI or HRD reports.

Hannah Hughes said

"I am delighted to have completed the course and have built up years of experience of working with diamonds, but to obtain such a prestigious qualification is a great achievement.

At Beards we have a philosophy of buying diamonds that look great, we don't buy stones on the colour or clarity or just report criteria. We look at them for how much life they have,  how bright they and how they will look when our customers wear them.

We want everyone to look at the finished jewellery  and say "Wow, where are your diamonds from?" the reply should always be "From Beards of course".

All of Beards diamonds are all generally F VS or better but that's as a result of the process rather than buying them for that reason. "

Alex Rose added  "We have always had the best designs and best jewellery in Cheltenham and the South West; we need to make sure our staff are trained to international standards so our customers feel that the service and quality normally confined to the capital is on their doorstep. Im really pleased for Hannah, she is a huge asset to the business and a great person for our customers to have access to so they can have jewellery designed exclusivley for them and then comissioned and at no extra cost."
