Watch Servicing
Routine servicing for your watch is key to preserving the beauty and longevity of a timepiece, ensuring you enjoy your cherished pieces year-round. We recognise the significance of investment pieces, which is why we conduct a thorough and meticulous analysis of every watch before any repairs are performed—ensuring they retain their value for years to come.

General Service
There are three key reasons to have your watch serviced: lubrication, regulation, and water resistance.
Lubrication & Wear Prevention: A watch relies on various specialized oils and lubricants to minimize friction between its intricate moving parts. As these lubricants dry out over time, friction increases, leading to greater wear and diminished timekeeping accuracy. Regular servicing ensures proper lubrication, preserving the movement’s longevity.
Precision & Regulation: Timekeeping precision naturally shifts over time due to wear and subtle changes in the escapement mechanism, including the hairspring. During servicing, the watch is carefully regulated and tested to restore optimal accuracy.
Water Resistance Maintenance: The seals that protect your watch from moisture and dust degrade over time. As part of routine servicing, these seals are inspected and replaced if necessary to maintain the watch’s water resistance and durability.

Accredited Servicing
At Beards, our state-of-the-art, brand-accredited service centre ensures that your watch receives the highest level of care—matching the standards of sending it directly to the manufacturer. Our expert, brand-authorised watchmakers bring years of experience to every timepiece, guaranteeing that your watch is returned in pristine condition. We proudly offer brand-accredited repairs and services for OMEGA, Cartier, Longines, and Breitling watches.
Our comprehensive service includes electronically testing your watch’s timekeeping accuracy and refinishing metal cases and bracelets using the same polishing techniques and compounds as the manufacturers. When repairs are needed, we use brand-authorized casing tools to carefully open and deconstruct the watch, ensuring precision in every step. Should any components require replacement, only brand-authorized parts are used.
For water resistance, we conduct rigorous three-stage testing. This includes submerging the case in water, subjecting it to high-pressure containment at shallow depths, and performing a condensation test to confirm there is no moisture inside. With our meticulous attention to detail, you can trust us to keep your timepiece performing and looking its best.

Water Damage
Water and watch movements don’t mix— even the slightest moisture inside your timepiece can lead to serious damage. The first warning sign of water ingress is usually fogging under the glass. Left unchecked, moisture can corrode internal components, both visible and hidden, and tiny debris can become lodged in the movement, potentially causing the watch to stop functioning. A full service will remove any trapped moisture, with worn parts replaced and re-lubricated to restore optimal performance.
A standard watch service follows a meticulous process: disassembly, cleaning, re-lubrication, reassembly, and thorough testing. Only after passing all quality checks is the watch returned to its owner. However, the longer moisture lingers inside the movement, the greater the risk of corrosion spreading to critical components. If major parts like the dial or base plate require replacement, the cost of servicing may increase. Regular maintenance helps prevent water damage, ensuring your timepiece remains in peak condition.

Battery Services
Quartz watches also need regular servicing, though typically at longer intervals compared to manual and automatic mechanical timepieces. Despite their electronic components, quartz watches are still about 90% mechanical, meaning they require the same level of care and attention as traditional mechanical movements.
One common sign that a quartz watch needs servicing is a decreasing battery lifespan. If you notice your battery lasting less time with each replacement, it’s often due to the lubricants drying out and movement parts experiencing natural wear. If the battery life drops to less than a year, it’s a strong indication that a full service is needed.
